Ferroptosis and Cancer in Predictive Medicine: Role of Antioxidant Enzymes in Tumor Vulnerability
The Project investigates thè role of ferroptosis in tumorprogression and treatment resistance, with particularemphasis on thè interplay between iron metabolism, redox homeostasis, and antioxidant systems. The aim isto advance thè understanding of thè molecularmechanisms underlying tumor celi vulnerability andtreatment response, while identifying potentialbiomarkers and novei therapeutic opportunities. Theresearch buiids on existing evidence regarding thè roleof thè GPX4 enzyme in chemoresistant tumors andinvestigates additional pathways involved inferroptosis. The expected resuits may contribute to thèdevelopment of innovative strategies for tumorcharacterization and treatment, as well as to predìctiveand precision medicine, promoting thè translation ofknowledge into thè biomedicai, pharmaceutical, andbiotechnology fields.
