Leggere la Sicilia attraverso il Viaggio in Italia di Goethe: tra storia della cultura, letteratura, arti e paesaggi

This research, which spans the history of philosophy and literature as well as the Digital Humanities, aims to produce a digital edition of the section of Goethe’s Viaggio in italia devoted to Sicily, where the German writer travelled between March and May 1787. The edition, in which the text is presented in an Italian translation updated in line with the latest critical and philological findings on the work, will take the form of a ‘Hyperedition’, that is, a system of integrated resources comprising texts, images, commentaries and geomapping. Adopting a perspective that views the history of philosophy as the history of culture – in which different fields of knowledge are closely interlinked – the research aims to highlight, from an artistic and aesthetic standpoint, the development of the region, not only from a tourism perspective but also as a means of educating its inhabitants
