Description
The research programme focuses on the historical, theoretical and methodological study of literature and art historiography, art theory and criticism, and the history of art history, including social history, iconology, the anthropology of art, visual culture, the history of patronage, and the history and methodologies of permanent and temporary museum exhibitions and other international events, particularly in the 20th and 21st centuries. Research involves in-depth studies of methodologies for analysing documents and archival materials. The programme also involves establishing an international network of relationships with European and non-European research institutes that have a long-standing tradition of interdisciplinary studies in areas such as art, philosophy, literature, science, the history of social, political and religious thought, and anthropology, as well as collection care and exhibition display.
