Description
The research programme aims to investigate the role of mentalisation in EDs, to identify mechanisms of therapeutic change. The project is divided into three main areas of investigation: Mentalisation and Parenting (Study of mentalisation characteristics in parents of patients with EDs and subclinical eating disorders); Profiling Mentalisation in EDs (Analysis of mentalisation patterns and profiles in people with EDs, to identify specific profiles in patients and their parents and explore clinical subgroups); Mentalisation as a Mechanism of Change (analysis of the role of mentalisation as a mediating variable in the processes and outcomes of psychological treatments for EDs). The aim is to study the relationships between mentalisation and clinical variables (symptom severity, emotional regulation, attachment) and investigate their longitudinal course in psychotherapy.
