Study of the chemical and physical processes of atmospheric aerosol and their impacts on environmental spheres (cryosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere)
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
03/CHEM-01 - Analytical, Enviromental And Cultural Heritage Chemistry
Description
The research activity will focus on atmospheric aerosol formation processes, long-range aerosol transport (for example, Saharan dust in the Mediterranean area), and the environmental impact of aerosols (climate, ecosystems, and human health). The activity includes monitoring aerosols at super-site observation stations in remote areas and developing analytical methods (ICP-MS, ICP-OES, ion chromatography) for the chemical characterization of aerosols in the atmosphere and in environmental matrices where they deposit (cryosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere), with particular attention to defining bioindicators of environmental quality in ecosystems. Part of the activity will be dedicated to studying nutrient dynamics in soil and plant-nutrient interactions
