Strong-field gravitational dynamics: classical and quantum approaches
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
02/PHYS-02 - Theoretical Physics Of Fundamental Interactions, Models, Mathematical Methods And Applications
Description
The research activity focuses on gravitational dynamics in the strong-field regime, combining classical and quantum approaches. On the classical side, compact systems are investigated in strong gravitational fields, using a variety of theoretical models and methods, both analytical and numerical. Particular attention is devoted to relativistic effects that influence the dynamics and lead to observable signals in gravitational waves, relevant for theoretical modeling and for the interpretation of observational data. In parallel, aspects of quantum gravity and holography are explored, with the aim of clarifying the connection between spacetime dynamics and its quantum formulation. Overall, the goal is to provide a coherent picture of gravitational phenomena in the strong-field regime, highlighting the complementarity between classical and quantum descriptions
