Description
The project aims to investigate the effects of alpha-synuclein aggregates on synaptic function in the basal ganglia, with particular focus on the striatum, using murine models. The study will involve intracerebral inoculation of alpha-synuclein using stereotaxic techniques and the application of electrophysiological approaches, mainly patch-clamp recordings in brain slices, to assess alterations in synaptic transmission and plasticity. Pharmacological modulation will be applied across the different experimental phases in order to identify and validate novel molecular targets and potential therapeutic strategies.
