The sector's expertise includes: unit operations and production processes, from the procurement of raw materials for packaging and conditioning to the distribution and serving of foods; use of additives and processing aids, residue and contaminant control, and plant sanitation; analysis and evaluation of biological, functional, chemical, physical, and sensory properties of raw materials, foods, and beverages; quality control of raw materials and foods in relation to production methods; shelf life studies; design, modeling, and development of processes, ingredients, and foods, including those that meet specific consumer needs, perceptions, and sensory preferences
