The scientific-disciplinary sector encompasses the scientific-disciplinary expertise for the study of behavior and the functional organization of mental processes: cognitive functions (such as sensation, attention, perception, learning, memory and imagery, action, thought, language and communication, control processes, states of consciousness), motivation and emotions, intelligence, personality, and individual differences. The sector provides teaching in the above-mentioned areas. Generally, it utilizes expertise related to the methods and techniques of psychological research and cognitive neuroscience in the laboratory and in various applied fields (such as cognitive ergonomics, forensic applications, well-being, motor skills and sports, economic decision-making, and the environment). It uses appropriate methods to develop cognitive models and implement effective intervention strategies for typical, atypical, and pathological manifestations of mental processes
