Description
Current LLMs, although trained on vast amounts of text data, still lack social awareness, making them poorly aligned with human values and unsuitable for sensitive contexts. Passive text exposure is insufficient: interactive environments with real-time feedback are required. The SALMON project integrates social awareness directly into pre-training through dynamic scenarios, creating models capable of recognizing cultural and social cues and introducing new evaluation metrics. The TOLD project proposes a voice-based annotation paradigm that is richer, more natural, and more efficient than written text. Post-doc researchers will handle data collection, experiments, pre-training, evaluations, analyses, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams, ensuring scientific and ethical rigor.
