Devlopment of new generation MPGD GEM-𝜇Rwell detectors
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
02/PHYS-01 - Experimental Physics Of Fundamental Interactions And Applications
Description
The research program is focused on the development of novel Micro Pattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGD), based onan hybrid GEM-𝜇Rwell technology, able to guarantee 2-dimensional charged particles tracking with high spatial resolution, low material budget and good timing resolution. The project aims to design, build and characterize large area protoptypesfor modern nuclear physics experiments such as ePIC at EIC and CLAS12 at Jefferson Laboratory, implementing a 𝜇TPCtrack reconstruction to optimize the position resolution performance. The activity follows the experimentalresults obtained on the detector prototypes developed for the plasma diagnostic within the “ArtificialIntelligence for Polarized Fusion” project
