Description
Research activities will focus on developing various solutions for implementing more sustainable road pavements, as follows: - Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment within the decision-making process of a highway operator (http://spim.unipa.it); - the development of laboratory testing methodologies for identifying the potential release of microplastics from bituminous conglomerates (http://rubberfree.unipa.it) - the development of tests and data analysis for the characterization of alternative materials for road pavements (mainly bio-asphalts); - the possible large-scale implementation and monitoring of the mixtures studied and the related pavements; - participation in international collaboration programs (i.e., RILEM); - the preparation and writing of scientific articles and technical reports; - the preparation of project proposals for international competitive calls.
