The project investigates emotional practices within early modern Catholic missions and their influence on social hierarchies, politics, and global colonization. The study examines human relationships through the lenses of gender and asymmetric dependencies, including figures such as missionary women, enslaved people, and indentured servants.To support the project, a researcher specialized in the history and religions of the Iberian Empires (15th–17th centuries), with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region, is being sought. Key activities include:Transcribing manuscript sources into a database regarding missions in the Philippines and Cabo Verde/Guinea;Writing a book chapter and submitting an article to a peer-reviewed journal.Requirements include experience in database management (Excel), historical research on Asian missions, paleographic skills (early modern Spanish), conference experience, and proficiency in Spanish, Italian, and/or English.
