Description
The research aims to extend and enhance multiscale modeling approaches for photo-electro-catalytic (PEC) processes. In particular, it proposes to integrate within the CatalyticFoam multiscale modeling framework the multiphase fluid dynamic description, light transport and its interaction with materials, as well as surface reaction kinetics based on kMC-type descriptions. The main activities include: (1) the development of efficient surrogate models of kMC-based surface kinetics using machine learning methodologies; (2) the extension of an existing CFD framework for multiphase modeling to the case of PEC systems; (3) the implementation within the framework of a description of light–matter interaction through appropriate transport models, properly accounting for attenuation effects due to the materials. The activities will be carried out within the EIC PATHFINDER PREDICT project.
