Development of innovative methodologies for mission analysis for lunar missions - 2026_CDR_DAER_1
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
09/IIND-01 - Aerospace Engineering And Naval Architecture
Description
This research activity focuses on mission analysis for lunar exploration, emphasizing the application of nonlinear astrodynamics to model complex multi-body trajectories in the Earth–Moon system. The approach integrates high-fidelity dynamical models with uncertainty quantification techniques to assess the impact of navigation and control errors, environmental perturbations, and model uncertainties on trajectory design and mission performance. The research will be primarily applied to the LUMIO mission, a CubeSat designed to monitor meteoroid impacts on the lunar far side from a halo orbit around the Earth–Moon second Lagrange point. In addition, other lunar missions for which mission analysis is required, may be considered as complementary case studies.
