Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna - Design and development of intention decoding algorithm for the control of upper-limb assistive devices
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
09/IBIO-01 - Bioengineering
Description
The selected candidate will conduct research activities as part of a project aimed at developing and validating a human–machine interface for the control of upper-limb prostheses and exoskeletons. This interface uses permanent magnets implanted in the muscles to decode the user’s motor intention and translate it into control commands for the assistive device. The activities will primarily involve the design, development, and experimental validation of algorithms for motor intention decoding through magnet localization. These algorithms will include classification techniques for the control of multi–degree-of-freedom devices. The algorithms will then be integrated into the system control unit and validated in clinical studies involving subjects with upper-limb amputations or motor impairments.
