Experimental investigation and modeling of advanced magnetic materials and components for medium-frequency power converters
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
09/IIET-01 - Electrical Engineering
Description
The project involves a systematic review of scientific literature concerning magnetic materials and components used in medium-frequency power converters. In particular, the research activity will focus on advanced materials such as amorphous steels, nanocrystalline steels, and ferrites. The components of interest include transformers and filter inductors for medium-frequency applications, specifically in the frequency range between 1 and 100 kHz. The project will then proceed with the definitionand numerical implementation of the models for the simulation of the magnetic, electrical, thermal, and mechanical behavior of these devices. Appropriate experimental setups will also be defined and implemented in laboratory to investigate the physical behavior of specific material samples and prototype components, with the aim of developing and assess representative models. Finally, the researchers will contribute to the dissemination of the results.
