Description

The project proposal shall provide for the implementation of an analysis of active deforma-tion in non-basaltic volcanic systems on a global scale, aimed at determining the nature and volumes of the responsible sources through the application of advanced numerical modelling methodologies. Such analysis shall integrate in-depth knowledge of deformational processes in volcanic settings, including those related to associated seismicity, with the use of geodetic monitoring data acquired from volcanic systems worldwide, as well as advanced numerical model-ling expertise through the use of specialized, purpose-built software (e.g. COMSOL). The objective is to improve the understanding of the physical processes and pre-eruptive behaviour of volcanic systems.
