COMPETITION FOR N.1 RESEARCH CONTRACT AT THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS, GROUP 13/ECON-04 ECONOMICS AT UNIVERSITÀ COMMERCIALE “LUIGI BOCCONI” DI MILANO
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
13/ECON-04 - Applied Economics
Description
The project develops biodiversity-adjusted economic metrics by integrating high-resolution, AI-derived biodiversity data into natural capital accounting systems and inclusive wealth frameworks. It links biodiversity maps (species richness, endemism, ecosystem integrity) with georeferenced economic indicators to estimate adjusted economic values and shadow prices of ecosystem integrity, while addressing spatial and taxonomic biases that disadvantage data-poor regions. The project combines spatial machine learning, remote sensing, and causal inference to analyze the economic impacts of biodiversity loss and conservation policies. The postdoctoral researcher will integrate ecological and economic data, develop reproducible workflows, apply advanced quantitative methods, and contribute to high-quality publications and open-access data and code repositories.
