Description

The research will focus on analysing the flows of demolition and deconstruction materials and their reuse in the construction sector in Milan, to promote and strengthen circular economy strategies and policies. The work will focus in particular on: 1) reviewing the state of the art and co-creating a protocol for collecting primary data; 2) modelling waste and by-product flows, as well as reuse/recycling chains for one or more demolition and deconstruction case studies located in Milan; 3) upscaling the results of the analyses and developing multi-city forecasting scenarios for material recycling; and, finally, 4) conducting a multi-level assessment of the impact of different circular economy strategies and drafting policy recommendations.
