Scientific-Disciplinary Group
10/SLAV-01 - Slavic Studies
Description
The project investigates, using experimental linguistics methods, how Russian–Italian bilingual children acquire phonological and morphosyntactic categories relevant to Russian orthography and how these competencies shape writing errors. Perception and production data collected in community-based schools will provide the empirical basis for a critical review of existing materials and for the development of open-access online instructional resources. The postdoctoral research fellow will contribute to the design of experiments on the phonetics, phonology, and morphology of heritage Russian. They will be responsible for collecting data from school-age bilingual children in community-based Russian language schools. The fellow will also contribute to the critical review of existing teaching materials for heritage Russian and, building on the empirical findings from the experimental study, will develop open-access online instructional materials.
