The research project aims toanalyze the main barriers to economic and social development in low- and middle-incomecountries and in the most vulnerable areas of the Italian context, with particular attentionto the mechanisms that generate and perpetuate economic, social, and territorialinequalities. Specifically, the project seeks to examine the role of institutional, economic,and social factors that influence development processes, with a focus on issues such ascrime and the informal economy, female labor force participation and empowermentprocesses, as well as the effects of climate change on economic opportunities, individualwell-being, and local development dynamics.
