The project aims to shed light onthe personal experiences and role of Chinese Catholics in the history of China, theChurch, and relations between the Holy See and the Chinese world in the period 1919-1992. This contribution, which has been little explored to date, is placed in the context ofChinese social and political history. Existing studies have so far focused mainly on thepolitical and diplomatic role of the institutions in Rome and Beijing.
