Development and validation of low-power eye-tracking algorithms and systems for smart eyewear - 2026_CDR_DEIB_6
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
09/IINF-03 - Telecommunications
Description
The research program aims to develop, implement, and validate innovative eye-tracking systems for smart eyewear devices, with a particular focus on low-power solutions suitable for embedded integration. The project will focus on the evolution of gaze tracking and blink detection systems based on infrared sensors and photodiodes, capable of overcoming the limitations of current solutions in terms of power consumption, size, and computational complexity. The activities will include:development of machine learning and signal processing algorithms for gaze estimation (regression and classification);design of sensor fusion strategies to integrate eye tracking with additional sensors (e.g., IMU, ambient light, etc.);optimization of algorithms for execution on low-power embedded systems;development of pipelines for adaptive calibration and reduction of inter-user variability;validation on synthetic, robotic, and human datasets.
