Design, Synthesis, and Mechanistic Study of Cathode Materials with Oxygen Redox Activity for Lithium-Ion Batteries - 2026_CDR_DENG_11
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
09/ICHI-02 - Chemical Plants And Technologies
Description
This project aims to develop novel high-capacity cathode materials for next-generation lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). To achieve this goal, in addition to the transition-metal redox reactions occurring in conventional cathode materials (e.g., layered NCM), anionic redox processes (oxygen redox activity) will be introduced to enable multi-electron transfer. A series of such materials will be designed and synthesized. Although anionic redox shows great potential, it can also lead to challenges such as structural instability, capacity fading, and electrolyte degradation. Therefore, a systematic understanding of these issues is essential for the rational design of high-energy-density active materials. This will be addressed as another key aspect of the project through the use of various advanced characterization techniques.
