Description
The project aims to innovate cancer differential diagnosis through exome sequencing using next-generation sequencing technology. Its goal is to identify specific genetic alterations that enable a more accurate, personalized, and rapid diagnosis compared with traditional approaches alone. The methodology combines NGS analysis with advanced data interpretation algorithms to generate individual genetic profiles for each patient. These profiles may support the identification of tumor origin, prognostic assessment, and prediction of therapeutic response. Particular attention is given to cancers of unknown primary, rare tumors, and cases with incongruent morphological or immunophenotypic features. The project also includes the creation of a genetic database to collect and enhance the value of data obtained from NGS analyses. The main challenges concern large-scale data management, result interpretation, costs, protocol standardization, and multidisciplinary integration.
