Invisible Symptoms in Multiple Sclerosis: Cognitive and Psychiatric Profiles
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
06/MEDS-12 - Neurology
Description
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic neurological disease in which cognitive and psychiatric symptoms are frequent and highly disabling manifestations, often independent from physical disability. This project aims to investigate these "invisible symptoms" through an integrated multidisciplinary neuropsychological and clinical approach. The main cognitive domains affected in MS, including executive, attentional, memory, and language functions, will be assessed using verbal fluency tasks, the Cognitive Affective/Schmahmann Syndrome Scale (CCAS-S), and measures of cognitive reserve (CRI). Psychiatric and affective dimensions, including depressive and anxiety symptoms and personality traits, will be evaluated through BDI-II, STAI, and NEO-FFI inorder to identify integrated clinical profiles and improve personalized patient management
