Description
In silico design of antimicrobial peptides and development of experimental protocols for the extraction, screening, and valorization of animal-derived waste and by-products aimed at the identification of natural peptides with bactericidal activity. Investigation of their mechanisms of action using in vitro model systems (liposomes) and in vivo models (Caenorhabditis elegans). Development of innovative antimicrobial packaging solutions for the control of microbial contamination and the extension of the shelf life of highly perishable foods.
