Sub-seasonal and seasonal prediction of snow cover dynamics in complex mountain terrain: integrating snow simulations with weather forecasts and satellite-based snow data
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
08/CEAR-01 - Hydraulics, Hydrology, Hydraulic And Maritime Engineering
Description
Seasonal mountain snow, which accumulates and melts throughout the year, fundamentally shapes the hydrology, climate, and ecosystems of both mountain watersheds and the regions downstream. In mountainous areas, spring snowmelt drives streamflow and groundwater recharge, making it a critical temporary water resource whose availability is largely determined by seasonal climate patterns.
