Description

The position is part of the “FIS2-MANTIS” project, aimed at the development of advanced optical platforms for the enantioselective recognition of biomolecules and pharmaceutical compounds. The research activity will focus on the synthesis, functionalization, and characterization of plasmonic nanostructures and optical metasurfaces to enhance biosensor performance in terms of selectivity and limit of detection. The objective is to develop integrated strategies that combine the design and engineering of nanostructured surfaces in order to obtain robust and reproducible platforms for diagnostic and pharmaceutical applications

The selection process includes an assessment of qualifications worth up to 60 points, and an interview worth up to 40 points. The interview will aim to evaluate the relevance, originality, and methodological consistency between the research directions emerging from each candidate’s academic and professional background, qualifications, and scientific publications, and the objectives of the research project described in the call. Proficiency in English will also be assessed. PhD in Physics or equivalent. Main requirements: Experience in the design, development, and characterization of biosensors and microfluidic devices; competence in the synthesis of metal nanoparticles and their deposition on substrates, as well as in the development of functionalization protocols; familiarity with numerical modelling (e.g., FDTD and FEM methods) for the analysis of extinction spectra, electromagnetic field distributions in nanostructured systems, and fluid dynamics; and proficiency in English.
