This call funds research projects focusing on the challenges facing representative democracy in Europe, which is threatened by rising populism, political polarization, democratic backsliding, digital disinformation, foreign interference, and declining trust in political institutions.The objective is to examine how social, economic, technological, and geopolitical shifts are reshaping democratic legitimacy and political representation within the EU.Project Focus & Requirements:Specific Research Questions: Identify how European democratic systems respond to pressures from these transformations.Methodology: Proficiency in quantitative (including surveys), qualitative, and mixed-method approaches.Key Outputs: Identify mechanisms of democratic resilience and develop policy recommendations to strengthen representative democracy in Europe.
