Description
The project “Study of the chemical communication of insects of agricultural, commercial, and forest interest for the development of the new control strategies, “Acronym SEMIO-SMART”, aims to deepen the knowledge of chemical signals involved in the communication mechanisms of agricultural, commercial, and forest insect pests. Through chemical, electrophysiological and behavioral assays, and attractancy/repellence field trials, the project aims to identify intraspecific (pheromone) and interspecific (allomones, kairomones, synomones, apneumones) semiochemicals useful for the development of indirect (monitoring) and direct control means to be implemented in innovative and sustainable strategies (mass trapping, mating disruption, attract and kill, etc.).
