Description
Within the European Partnership for Metrology project "CoCoRICO," INRIM is developing an optical clock coupled to an optical cavity for the generation of new quantum states with reduced uncertainty. Its accuracy will be verified through remote comparisons with other project members. The research activity therefore involves the construction and characterization of the new vacuum and optical apparatus, consisting of a new spectroscopy cell in which two coupled optical cavities will be used for the trapping and non-destructive measurement of the strontium atomic sample. Experience in frequency metrology may be required for remote measurement and comparison of optical clocks. Part of the activity requires the use of cold atom manipulation and cooling techniques, and experimental and diagnostic methods for laser frequency stabilization on high-finesse cavities.
