Description
The Italian Quantum Backbone and the PiQuET infrastructure provide a strategic framework for the development and use of quantum technologies based on highly precise and reliable optical sources and sensors. In this context, the activity focuses on the theoretical study of photonic dynamics in microrings and other driven-dissipative photonic structures, aimed at developing micro- and nanophotonic devices for metrology, laser stabilization, sensing, and quantum communication. The project addresses multimode bosonic systems described as open quantum systems, with particular attention to parametric instabilities, transitions between spontaneous and coherent emission, symmetry breaking and its effects on mode selection, bistability, and spectral narrowing. It also includes the adiabatic reduction of open-system models to effective descriptions with fewer degrees of freedom, useful for efficient simulations, data interpretation, and device design.
