Preservation: AsMu – Asmara's New Museum of History of the National Civilization and Italian-Eritrean Relations in Eritrea - 2026_CDR_DASTU_4

The programmatic research of the AsMu project aims to conserve, protect, and enhance the tangible cultural heritage (built environment, historic landscape, architecture, historical documents and archives) and the intangible cultural heritage (shared between Eritrea and Italy). It will operate in two areas: through training activities on conservation and restoration, and through co-designed dissemination activities. The project also includes the creation of laboratories for safety, analysis, and preservation, which currently do not exist in Eritrea. These laboratories are aimed at investigating the nature and state of conservation of artefacts of historical and artistic value, diagnosing and implementing conservation or restoration interventions using non-destructive or partially invasive techniques. The new research contract holder will therefore be required to pursue these objectives, leveraging their specific expertise in the conservation field.
