Selection for admission to the 42nd cycle (a.y. 2026/27) of the PhD in “Sustainability: Economics, Environment, Management and Society (SUSTEEMS)”.7 positions with scholarships are available:- n.5 funded by the University of Trento;- n.1 co-funded by the Municipality of Arco and the University of Trento, on the topic “Economic valuation of ecosystem services of olive growing in the Alto Garda area”;- n.1 co-funded by Cassa Rurale Alta Valsugana and the University of Trento, in memory of Massimiliano Giacomello, on the topic “Eutrophication of lakes under multiple uses: an economic assessment of environmental costs and benefits and trade-offs for sustainable lake management, with an application to the Pinè Plateau”;n. 1 supernumerary position.Topic-specific scholarships require carrying out particular research themes and dedicated skills, to be verified on the website https://www.economia.unitn.it/node/3182

Selection process:PhD in “Sustainability: Economics, Environment, Management and Society (SUSTEEMS)”:- title assessment and research project;- interview in the English languageThe interview will assess candidates’ competencies, research skills and motivation.If no English certificate at least level C1 has been provided in the application, the candidate’s English knowledge will be tested during the interview.Candidates who applied for a topic-specific scholarship will be evaluated on their knowledge of the specific subject of that grant, as well as their level of knowledge of the Italian language, at least at the C1 level. Applications for admission to the PhD Programme are accepted from candidates, regardless of nationality, who hold an Italian “Laurea Magistrale” (according to Ministerial Decree no. 270 of 22 October 2004) or a university degree awarded under the previous regulations, or a second level degree awarded by an Italian “AFAM” Institute or an equivalent degree qualification gained abroad and considered suitable by the Admission Committee. Applications are also accepted from candidates who expect to obtain their degree/equivalent qualification abroad by October 31, 2026. In this case, admission is "conditional", and applicants must submit the degree certificate to the PhD Office - Cognitive, Social Sciences and Humanities no later than November 6, 2026. Failure to provide the degree certificate or the self-declaration will lead to forfeiture of grant and position.Application deadline: May 26, 2026 - h 16 (Italian Time).
