SOCIAL SCIENCE AND STATISTICS
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
14 - Political And Social Sciences
Description
Social phenomena result from interactions among individuals and between individuals and their surroundings, understood as the physical environment, economic and demographic context. Technological, geopolitical, demographic and socioeconomic transitions profoundly change these interactions, imposing a profound reflection on the paradigms of the Social Sciences and the use of Statistical models to study their effects and build evaluation criteria. The course aims to train professionals with a clear framework regarding research theory and methodology for studying social systems, understood as a set of relational processes and as collective systems. The doctoral student should be able to set up and carry out high-level research, with a reasonable degree of autonomy in choosing the theoretical frame of reference and in using the most appropriate methodological tools of qualitative and quantitative analysis.
