Modelling Modified HYdrogeological hazards under complex ClimAte and environmental conditions (CUP D87G24000590007) - 2025_IDR_DICA_6
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
08/CEAR-01 - Hydraulics, Hydrology, Hydraulic And Maritime Engineering
Description
MOHYCAM aims to:• Quantify the compound relationships between meteorological forcings and debris-flow initiation at Belvedere Glacier;• Compile a database of compound geohazard events occurred in Piemonte region;• Evaluate the frequency of extreme events, considering multivariate drivers, and assess potential changes in their frequency and magnitude;• Analyse how shifts in meteorological forcings interact to influence debris-flow likelihood, using the most up-to-date observational datasets. The study will include a detailed investigation of three debris-flow events recorded over the past two years, combining in-situ observations with imagery from existing cameras, as well as any new events that may occur during the project. The final outcome will be an estimation of the return period of debris-flow events, accounting for non-stationarity and the interaction of multiple forcing variables, in line with the compound-event framework.
