The neural correlates of early language development
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
11/PSIC-02 - Developmental And Educational Psychology
Description
Infants have sophisticated speech perception and communicative abilities early in life, but the neural architecture supporting these abilities is still not fully understood. The aim of the current research project is to investigate the neural mechanisms underlying infants’ abilities to process speech and other communicative signals such as faces, vocalizations, cries, laughter etc. in typical and possibly in atypical development, using neuroimaging techniques, such as near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), that are well suited for developmental populations
