Numerical and Experimental Analysis of Time-Modulated Metamaterials
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
08 - Civil Engineering And Architecture
Description
The research project focuses on the investigation, design, and experimental validation of time-modulated elastic metamaterials, where controlled temporal variations of stiffness and mass density enable nonreciprocal wave propagation, frequency conversion, and elastic wave manipulation. The study will concentrate on flexural vibrations in beams and two-dimensional plates, aiming to bridge fundamental physical understanding with the development of functional platforms for elastodynamic signal control. Temporal interfaces will be designed to selectively modulate vibration propagation, providing isolation, filtering, and frequency-mixing capabilities. Potential applications include structural health monitoring, ultrasonic imaging, and low-power analog signal processing.
