Description

The research project will focus on particle physics and fundamental interactions and in particular on rich dark sectors, i.e., extensions of the SM below the electroweak scale with weak couplings to visible particles (thus "dark") with a rich structure, with multiple particles and interactions, in the context of the ERC DarkSHunt project. The project aims to study the experimental signatures of rich dark sectors, with an emphasis on research at accelerator neutrino experiments, specifically DUNE, ICARUS, and SBN. It will consider the upscattering from neutrino fluxes of Heavy Neutral Leptons in these detectors and their subsequent decay into lepton pairs and missing energy. It will evaluate the sensitivity of the experiments and conduct an experimental search for these signals using the available data.
