Redesign of Endoscopic Clipping Devices through Additive Manufacturing
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
09/IBIO-01 - Bioengineering
Description
The research activities aim to design an innovative endoscopic clipping device for the removal of polyps in the gastrointestinal tract, considering the unique capabilities of additive manufacturing and the superelasticity of Nitinol. To this purpose, an iterative approach will be adopted, using numerical simulations to preliminarily test different clip shapes, considering their interaction with GI tissues. the newly designed clip will be tested for functionality and biocompatibility to ensure that its performance meets the expected requirements, and if those are not met, the design will be refined accordingly, repeating the simulation and fabrication steps until the desired performance is achieved
