Development of green concretes made with binders with low environmental impact and high durability
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
08/CEAR-07 - Structural Analysis And Design
Description
In the field of civil engineering constructions, concrete is one of the main components used thanks to the ease with which the raw materials that constitute it can be found and the excellent mechanical performance it guarantees. However, the use of traditional concrete has significant environmental impacts related to cement production but also to the consumption of natural resources. Partially replacing Portland cement with low-carbon, energy-efficient materials can greatly reduce the overall environmental impact of binders and, consequently, concrete. The research activity will further deepen the state of the art regarding the use of mixtures made with alkaline-activated binders (geopolymers) and will analyze, through a large experimental campaign, the study of deferred phenomena, such as viscosity and shrinkage, of these mixtures.
