Description

The research programme aims to investigate and develop innovative strategies for carbon valorisation at plant scale through the integration of technologies applied to the water line and sludge line in wastewater treatment plants. The research activities will focus on the analysis of carbon flows, the optimisation of removal and recovery processes, and the assessment of synergies among different treatment units, with the objective of improving overall plant efficiency and promoting resource recovery. The study will be carried out using a combined experimental and modelling approach, including pilot-scale and/or full-scale experimental investigations, collection and analysis of operational data, and the development and application of mathematical models for process simulation and optimisation. The expected outcomes will contribute to the definition of operational guidelines and decision-support tools for the sustainable management of wastewater treatment plants, in line with circular ec
