13/ECON-04 - Applied Economics
Description
In Kenya, the project studies how changing social norms around women’s employment require workplaces to better accommodate working mothers. It seeks to identify strategies to encourage employers to invest in female-friendly infrastructure, such as lactation rooms, and to assess the impact on women’s labor market outcomes. Through a large-scale randomized controlled trial, the study examines how such workplace adaptations can support structural transformation in an emerging economy. The project also uses administrative firm data, national surveys of managers, and a recruitment experiment. The pre-doc will collaborate with researchers and the survey firm, monitoring data collection, ensuring data quality, supporting questionnaire programming and piloting, cleaning and analyzing data, and contributing to background research and literature reviews.
