Development of Vehicle and Powertrain Simulation Models for Motorsport Applications
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
09/IIND-06 - Fluid Machinery, Energy Systems And Power Generation
Description
The Research Project is set within the field of vehicle performance analysis in motorsport, a sector in which it is extremely important for each team to quantify the performance of its own vehicle and compare it with that of its competitors. The first phase of the activity will consist of developing a tool that, starting from data from different cars competing in a motorsport championship, enables the analysis of competitors’ performance by reconstructing power unit management strategies through powertrain and vehicle models. Subsequently, through the use of optimization algorithms, tools will be developed to compare vehicle performance. Finally, a simulation activity will be carried out to analyze and compare energy management strategies, allowing the relative performance of the cars to be evaluated under different qualifying and race scenarios.
