The recovery of ladle furnace slags from secondary metallurgy in the construction sector (RE-WHITE project)
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
08/CEAR-07 - Structural Analysis And Design
Description
Ladle Furnace Slags (LFS) represent a significant challenge for steel industries in Lombardy due to their chemical and physical characteristics, making them very difficult to reuse. Thanks to the RE-WHITE project, innovative technologies will be developed and implemented for the treatment and reuse of LFS, promoting their reuse, particularly in the construction sector. The aim is to promote a circular economy model and sustainable industrial symbiosis through the following activities to be carried out by the Collaborator: characterization of different types of LFS in order to assess their potential use for clinker and blended cements production; production, mechanical characterization, and optimization of concrete mixtures using cements with the addition of LFS; use of LFS as a filler and/or cement substitute in industrial and geotechnical applications
