Description

The project is dedicated to the study of scattering processes between vector bosons (VBS), a key channel for testing the structure of the Standard Model and probing for possible signs of new physics. The analysis focuses on semileptonic final states, which offer an optimal compromise between experimental cleanliness and statistical sensitivity. The project involves the development of advanced event reconstruction strategies, signal separation from dominant backgrounds, and the use of multivariate techniques.Exploiting the high level of statistics collected by CMS during LHC Runs 2 and 3, it will also be possible to obtain the first sensitivity studies on the polarization states of vector bosons. The expected results will contribute to improving the understanding of electroweak interactions at high energies and to placing constraints on scenarios beyond the Standard Model.
