Description
The Research Fellow (Incarico di Ricerca) will support a research program focused on the compositional analysis and sustainable valorization of red seaweed biomass. The activity includes the characterization of raw biomass and extracted fractions using advanced analytical techniques such as ash and elemental analysis (CNS, ICP-MS), HPAEC-PAD for monosaccharides, SEC-MALS for molecular weight determination, and structural analysis by NMR and FTIR. The polysaccharide fractions will undergo functionalization processes using mechanochemical techniques. The fellow will contribute to the development of biorefinery workflows that employ both conventional and innovative extraction methods, including ultrasound-assisted, microwave-assisted, and multiphasic extraction using green solvents.
