Development of a process of phosphorous extraction from sewage sludge ashes and subsequent acid regeneration
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
09/ICHI-02 - Chemical Plants And Technologies
Description
The research aims to optimize the acid extraction of phosphorus from sewage sludge incineration ashes, a process that still involves high costs, reagent consumption, and waste generation. The main goal is to reduce acid consumption through regeneration and reuse. Batch extraction tests will be carried out using hydrochloric and sulfuric acid to identify optimal operating conditions. The resulting acid solutions enriched in phosphorus and metals will be treated through ion-exchange processes. Different anion- and cation-exchange materials will be screened to recover phosphate and regenerate the acids. The regenerated acids will then be reused in further phosphorus extraction tests.
